Christmas Newsgreeting 1999

Season's Greetings to everyone from the center of the Pacific, the last place to greet the year 2000. We apologize for snubbing you last year, but we snubbed everyone. As you can see from the pictures, the kids are growing like handsome weeds

Ajja will be home for Christmas. Last year she spent the Holiday with Donn's parents and sister in northern Illinois, experiencing the classical meteorological aspects of the season. She spent the past summer in Slovenia on a Christian mission, so Maui is anxious to see her again.
Shen is 15, a sophomore, two inches taller than his father, and a varsity goalkeeper for the Baldwin Bears soccer squad. The under 14 Maui United Soccer Club went to a California tournament over the 4th of July and placed 2nd with Shen in the goal. He delights in downloading MP3s, making CDs, and has a booming car stereo for the car he can't drive quite yet. Shen is a tremendous help in the screenprint shop, helping keep the business together under rush conditions. Daly is a cheerful 5th grader, with good friends, and his own room. He is a 'Dragonball Z' (that's a tv cartoon) afficionado, a smart soccer player, a great brother to Deme, a wearer of braces and a graduate of "Guardstart," a water safety program for kids in Hawaii. Deme goes to preschool two mornings a week, has several boy friends, loves to dance, read books, swing, play games, watch 'Little Bear,' dress up, paint, do projects and eat popcicles.

As the family continues to blur the lines between home & business and life & art our backporch business - Hawaiian lei womens' teeshirts- has grown and we have gone far afield to sell them. We went to Kauai in August to the Tahiti Fete celebration to sell and stayed on to see Carol, Steve and the boys on the North shore. You can see some luscious pictures at our website...    http://www.deshayne.net     Follow the 'kauai trip' link. You can also see what our lei shirts look like at our internet store at deshayne.net - Follow the 'kapua' link. Donn and Shen went to California in Sept. to sell shirts at a hula competition. They stayed with Ajja at Chapman U. who introduced them to her campus life and helped them at the festival. Nece & Donn just went to Oahu for 3 days and sold at a giant Christmas crafts fair in Honolulu.

We hope your lives have been as blessed as ours. We are very grateful to all the friends and family who have amazingly volunteered to help us get through all the crazy-busy times that keep popping up. Life would not be as rich without you.
